My flight was delayed, so I decided to stay one more night in Kuala Lumpur. The place where I had been staying was already fully booked, so I had to find another option. I booked this property because it was right next to my previous accommodation, although the price was almost double. After booking, I contacted the property through the WhatsApp number provided and asked whether early check-in around 14:00 would be possible, as the official check-in time was 15:00. They said the room was not ready yet and that they would let me know once it was available. I arrived at around 14:00 and informed them that I was already in the lobby. At 14:19, they messaged me asking me to let them know when I was in the lobby, and I replied that I was already there. At 14:35, they told me their team would meet me soon. At 14:48, I followed up again, and they replied that the person was in the lift. Finally, at 14:56, I received a message from another number asking me to come outside the lobby. When I went outside, a man was standing near the security guard. He asked for my booking number, which I gave him, but he still insisted that I show him the booking PDF from my email. I opened my email and showed him the PDF. The access card was already with the security guard. The man took it from the security guard and handed it to me so I could enter the building and use the lift. He then asked me for the deposit, as I turned to get the cash from my bag, which was inside the lobby. At that moment, he almost tried to snatch the access card from my hand. I looked at him in a shock and he told me to give the card back first, collect the deposit money, and then he would return the card. The security guard had to open the door for me so I could go inside, collect the cash, come back, and pay the deposit. Only after that did he give me the access card again. I fully understand that paying a deposit may be part of the property’s policy. The issue was not the deposit itself. The problem was the way the situation was handled. If the deposit was required first, he should have asked for it before taking the access card from the security guard and giving it to me. Once the card was already in my hand, there was no need to treat me as if I was going to run away with it, especially when I had already paid for the room online in advance and had been waiting patiently in the lobby for almost an hour. After that, I took the lift and went up to the room. When I opened the door, I noticed many fruit flies inside the room. In general, the room itself was not bad. It was actually quite spacious and had two air-conditioners. However, there were fruit flies and ants around the cooking area, as shown in the attached pictures. There was also a lot of dust on top of the refrigerator, and the fan was extremely dirty. I have attached pictures of these as well. These are basic cleanliness issues that should have been checked before allowing a guest to check in. Another issue was that no towels were provided. There was also no toothbrush or toothpaste. For a property charging this price, these basic items should either be provided or clearly mentioned in advance if they are not included. The view from the window was also not pleasant. It was not a city view; the room was facing the back side of the building. Overall, the room was spacious and the location was convenient, but the check-in experience was disappointing, and the cleanliness and basic amenities were not up to standard. The staff should handle guests in a more professional and respectful way, and the property should improve its cleaning before check-in.
